PT Evaluations & Treatments
An evaluation includes a thorough discussion of your injury, injury history, training history, as well as objective measures including testing strength and mobility.
All info is then used to determine the best evidence-based treatment strategies for your unique situation, with a goal of keeping you running.
PT services are currently being provided in-person in Portland, Maine and virtually.
STRENGTH TRAINING FOR RUNNERS
Get Strong, Run Faster, & Decrease Your Chance of Injury
We take our experience as PTs as well as the latest running related research to design a strength program specifically for runners. Our goal is to help you get stronger to avoid injuries, allowing for consistency with your running while also improving performance.
We design 3 workouts/week, each taking 30-40 minutes. The program can easily be modified to 2 workouts/week..
All you have to do is follow the provided workouts with videos and descriptions of each exercise!
Evidence Based Coaching
We follow the training philosophies of Dr. Jack Daniels and his VDOT system. We combine these principles with our knowledge of running related injury prevention and rehabilitation to design individualized coaching programs.
Our mission is to push you farther than you think you can go while preventing injuries.
"With a sore achilles flaring up on two separate occasions, both times within weeks of important marathons, Kelton and Ashten stepped in to help. They worked on my tight calves and feet and found the root cause. They addressed my weaknesses and recommended some strengthening exercises.
My achilles was better with 2 treatments, and thanks to them I was able to complete the Chicago Marathon and qualify for my fourth Olympic Trials.
The second time they addressed postpartum weaknesses and helped me get to the start line at the Olympic Marathon Trials.
They are an amazing duo and so skilled at what they do. They went above and beyond by coming to my home, which was a game-changer with a busy schedule and a new baby!"

Dr. Kelton Cullenberg, PT, DPT
Dr. Ashten Cullenberg, PT, DPT
We met in 2010 at the University of Maine where we both ran competitively for 4 years while receiving our degrees in Exercise Science. Kelton ran XC with an 8k PR of 24:27 and a 10k PR of 30:35, which qualified him for the NCAA D1 National Championships in 2013. On the track, he focused on the 3k (8:17) and the 5k (14:25) where he was a 3-time America East Conference Champion. Ashten's main event was the high hurdles where she ran a best of 14.43s in the 100m hurdles.
We then both went to the University of New England, receiving our Doctorates of Physical Therapy in 2017 - the same year we got married. We have both been practicing in outpatient orthopedic/sports clinics ever since. We continue to enjoy running, strength training, skiing/hiking with our dog Jasper, and living in our tiny home in Maine. Kelton currently runs for Dirigo Racing Club.
After having physical therapy himself for multiple running-related injuries in high school, Kelton decided to pursue a career in physical therapy in 2010. He is excited to continue his dedication to the sport of running and is committed to helping anyone trying to rehab an injury, get stronger & faster, or avoid future injuries.
